This Queens Public Library has gone through several renovations over the years. Located right next through a public school, giving children in the neighborhood the opportunity to go somewhere safe after school. Over the last couple of years this library has struggled to stay open. The youth of this neighborhood has felt the effects of the reduction of open hours. Many children used to use the weekends to do their homework at the library having no access to a computer at their own homes. Unlike many other neighborhoods who have been forced to close down their local neighborhoods due to low funding. The location of this library is ideal to me. It seems to be right in the center of two schools as well as nearby public housing and green space areas. It has turned into a versatile environment where a community comes together. Taking this picture seemed important to me because not all communities have access to a library close by to them therefore have to travel further to access one.
The 7 train is the only train accessible to my neighborhood however it does make a variety of trains accessible in different stops on this train line. Without access to the 7 train or the buses many residents who rely on these forms of transportation would be stranded within the barriers of their neighborhood. In my neighborhood the train is right next to affordable housing, which in some cases means housing is a bit more expensive however prices are kept affordable for families. Access to the train system isn't as hard as it is in other communities due to the means of commuting. As well as having the train nearby, my neighborhood has access to buses such as the Q32and the Q69. These two buses make access to other parts of Queens easier allowing residents to travel farther without the hassle of walking far. Each stop on the train is accessible to all parts of the neighborhood being that every stop is only a few blocks apart.
