I am one to day that soccer is a true passion of mine. When I first heard about te constructing of a new soccer stadium in Queens I got very happy. I live in Queens and the majority of my project took place in Flushing Meadows park. The reason why I was excited that they were going to make a stadium in the city was due to the fact that every soccer I've gone to have taken place in Nee Jersey. My family doesn't own a car, which means it's hard to travel to New Jersey. It would be much more convenient for me to go to a soccer game if I just needed to take a single train there. But, as I started realizing from our class discussion of removing families from homes, I thought twice about my decision. In Flushing there already is a baseball stadium, Citi Field, and tennis stadiums, Arthur Ashe. There is going to be a lot of chaos happening in Flushing with soccer, baseball, and tennis games happening. If the soccer stadium is going to be built then that means more people visiting Flushing, which will eventually lead to wealthy people wanting to live nearby. Not only this hurts me, but if the stadium is going to be built inside Flushing Meadows park then that means some soccer fields are going to be removed for the stadium. I don't want this to happen because I spend the majority of my week there taking my brother to his team practices. It makes me question if this is the right decision in general? And why is it that queens is the chosen spot for this? What will families do if they are removed after the stadium is built? Have people really thought out how three different sports are going to work together to have different schedules?
