After our discussion in class, I wanted to learn more about why we stereotype or why some seemed so in denial to accept the fact that they, at one point, judge others as well. But I wanted to tell them that it is ok to assume or judge because we are humans. Now, what is not ok is when we walk around thinking that what we assum or hear is the whole truth. There are always exceptions to the stereotypes. Or maybe even the stereotypes are the exceptions...

As I watched this video and thinking back to our conversation today i thought to myself, who is society. I mean who is to tell us that a race is a certain way, or certain groups of people are a certain way. I feel we use society as a excuse so we dont let others know that we made the choice to be influenced and to say certain things and think them. Every day we hear stories on the news, in a magazine, these stories come from all around the world from many different people. An example being, what is going on in syria which is a major problem for the U.S. and the rest of the world, but it is your choice whether or not you think its right to go to war or not. Just because we are American doesnt mean we have to think to protect our country it is a choice. If thats it then people should respect that. Today we had a debate about lockers and whether or not it was fair that there was no senior lane, but i honestly feel that in reality there are so many other problems we should be trying to resolve and find solutions. To me sterotypes are like a giant game of popcorn, one person says one thing it gets passed on and on until it gets to everyone and the story has changed, and then what, nobody knows the truth. Then we find this one idea that makes us comfortable to say and thats what everone sticks with and thats is when social media gets on it and infuences others, at least in my opinion. Im not perfect i have also heard and said these sterotypes mainly as a joke, but the fact that something like that can be made a joke, and the fact that many other people use sterotypes this way and use them so casually baffles me.
